Q. What is the point of Bikram Yoga ?
A. Bikram Yoga is about stretching/opening your body and spine in all directions. It builds strength, balance and flexibility not only in your body, but in your mind and life as well. If you can touch your toes or if you are unable to see your toes, you are a perfect candidate for the benefits of yoga.

Q. What are some of the benefits?
A. The criteria for getting benefit from Bikram Yoga:
• You try 100% the right way 100% of the time
• You find your personal edge
• You enjoy yourself

Some of the benefits of yoga are
• Weight normalization
• Sharpens mental focus and clarity
• Reduces stress
• Increases vitality, energy, relaxation
• Increases blood circulation and cardiovascular health
• Keeps joints lubricated, increase muscle strength around joints to support under pressure
Improves strength, balance, endurance and flexibility, which reduces the risk of injury, or re-injury
• Improves immune system (i.e. getting sick less often, if at all) and helps reduce the symptoms of many chronic diseases (e.g. arthritis, diabetes and thyroid disorders) A sense of well being that spreads into your daily life - look and feel the best you ever have
• Detoxification of the body Improves skin, breath, posture and body tone

Q. Will I lose weight ?
A. Bikram Yoga class is a challenging workout no matter what your fitness level. With a regular Bikram practice (at least three times a week), you can lose inches and develop muscle tone and strength that might never come from other forms of exercies. Yoga gives you the body you were meant to have.

Q. How often should I attend class?
A. For good results, we encourage a regular practice of 3 times per week minimum; for life-changing results, 4 or more times per week.

Q. What if I am not flexible?
A. This class is not a try out for Cirque du soleil nor is it about your level of flexibility or fitness. It is about trying the right way and finding and going beyond your personal edge. Your flexibility will improve with time and you will be rewarding your body with countless other benefits along the way.

Q. Do I need to drink water before class?
A. Drink plenty of water. Make sure you drink plenty of water after class and the entire day before you come to class.
How much is enough? This is going to vary on a person by person basis. Remember our bodies are mostly water. Being fully hydrated helps take pressure off of organs to do their jobs and helps flush the body and keep it running smoothly.
The most typical excuse for not drinking water is the increased visits to the restroom. Rest assured, your body will adjust to the increased water intake. You may also find benefits of decreased body odor, smoother skin, and shinier hair.

Q. Why the heated room?
A. The heat combined with the sequence of the postures is what makes Bikram yoga so special. The room is heated intentionally to warm muscles, which allows you to work deeper in a shorter amount of time, seeing results faster. Heat takes the trauma out of stretching, heals and helps prevent injuries.
Also, your skin is the largest elimination organ in your body. Yoga is not just about working muscles. You are massaging deep tissues and glands. As you work deep within your body, you may start to release "toxins" that have been stored there a long time. Sweating helps flush toxins from your body, giving you a wonderful glow from head to toe.

Q. What if I feel sore after class?
A. Didn't know you had a muscle there? Congratulations, you have utilized 100% of your body. You are on the way to regaining your birthright: using your body in the full range of motion that it was designed for. The BEST way to relieve the soreness is to come back as soon as possible (24 - 48 hr). If you wait too long to come back, it may be like starting all over again.
