THE BEST WORKOUT EVER AND MORE..... My husband and I decided to try yoga at Bikram Yoga Grapevine in January, 2003. I had heard about it from friends, so it was a combination of curiosity and boredom with my current exercise program that made me take this leap. Exercise has always been a high priority in my life, but never did I imagine the type of "workout" yoga truly is. I began going twice a week, but realized the essential benefits after increasing to 3-4 times a week. Every part of your body is worked; increasing flexibility, strength and muscle tone. I was also surprised to find that it is a great cardiovascular workout as well. I lost weight and went down a couple of sizes; however, I feel the really amazing thing to be the overall difference in my body. At age 46, I am in better shape than I was in my twenties. And there is more. I discovered that concentration and yoga breathing, could help me with those postures most difficult for me. I do thrive on all aspects of this yoga, including the heat. Every day is a challenge, that's why I love it! It's nice to have my husband, Mike, as my "yoga buddy" too. Last, but not least, are the wonderful instructors: Stacey and Sherri have been there since I started giving encouraging words and helpful advice. E.K. (Erica) brings her energy to the team, and I must say, humor and empathy can carry you through those difficult days. I will continue this whole mind/body workout as long as I possibly can.
