My introduction to Bikram Yoga came to me during the last week of December 2003 by my daughter who lives in California. She had been attending Bikram's class in Los Angeles and was raving about it. It only took me one class to realize that the benefits I would receive from this type of regime were demanding enough to keep me interested. During the first week of January 2004 I bought my first of many unlimited monthly subscriptions and decided to take Bikram's challenge of doing his yoga at least five times a week for a two-month period to see how it would change my life.
Having been a runner for thirty years and a marathoner for the last ten years, plus several years of competitive long distance bicycle riding, I was skeptical as to whether or not this would be as physically challenging as the types of workouts I was doing before. Now as I complete my first year, I realize how beneficial the results of a committed workout program with Bikram Yoga are. During this entire year, every class that I have taken has always taken me to my physical limit. In all of the various types of exercise programs that I have ever done, this is the first time that I have enjoyed the coming together of my mind, body and soul. I love Bikram Yoga and what it has done for me. I will continue to make it a way of life.
