Four years ago, I had to give up walking due to problems with my feet. I knew that I needed to continue some form of exercise, but wasn't sure what. My daughter found some information on Bikram Yoga and bought an introductory class for my birthday. We took our classes together and at the end made the decision to purchase a 25 class card, practicing 3 days a week. I continued this for almost a year and then decided to increase my practice to 5 days a week.
It was hard in the beginning and there are days that I still struggle with some postures, but I know that I have to do this for myself. I refuse to give up or give in. Bikram Yoga has not only helped me shed a few pounds but most importantly, has made me stronger and more flexible than I have ever been. I know that Bikram Yoga is the prescription for a healthy spine, and my daughter quotes Bikram, "a healthy spine is a healthy life."
I appreciate the encouragement from all of our teachers, each having their own personality and style making every practice different. I thank Stacey, Sherri, Jay (who I affectionately refer to as El Comandante), LaDonna, Sami and Carla for their support, smiles and inspiration. I am honored and appreciate being chosen Student of the Month! I will continue to stay on the path as Bikram Yoga is my main source to well being.
